ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN

This eighth adaptation of the timeless Mark Twain novel casts Elijah Wood as Huckleberry Finn, the half-literate son of a drunk who runs away from home and follows the Mississippi River with an escaped slave named Jim (Courtney S. Vance). Along the way, the duo encounter adventures with colorful characters like The King (Jason Robards) and the Duke (Robbie Coltrane), two con men who impersonate British visitors in order to swindle two sisters out of their fortune, and Susan Wilks (Laura Bundy), the spunky 12-year-old girl who gives Huck his first kiss. Jim also re-educates Huck away from the racist views that he has grown up with. Not the most in-depth version of Twain's tale, The Adventures Of Huck Finn is a solid retelling of the classic story.

Very much in tune to the ancient spirits herself, Serena meets Nereid (Kelly Brook) a beautiful mermaid. However, menace is present in the form of the evil Captain Mavros (Alki David), an island fisherman intent on killing Nereid and getting his claws on her priceless jewel-encrusted tail. Serena realises that she has finally found the ideal match for her father and employs her father's ancient Greek love spells to make them fall in love. Eventually Nereid sacrifices her immortality to become a mortal human being, joining Thomas and Serena back in Oxford where Thomas's thesis is received in triumph.

Loosely based on a '50's movie of the same name, it tells the story of two young orphan boys who travel by themselves from the Old country to join their father's family in Canada. There they encounter their stern disciplinarian grandfather who has alienated himself from some of his neighbors. There is particularly no love lost between the grandfather and his Dutch neighbors, who he generalizes as being responsible for his son's death in the Boor War. A side product of this animosity is that it is keeping apart the boy's aunt and her Dutch doctor suitor. The two boys change everything though when they find a young baby on the beach..

LITTLE MEN

Retelling of Louisa May Alcott's classic tale of two street kids - one (Michael Caloz) who becomes the recipient of a kind benefactor and the other (Ben Cook) who goes on the run on the street. But when the second boy suddenly is brought into the school, he starts disruptions encouraging drinking and gambling. When he is finally cast out of the school, the other boys react in various ways.

In the children's efforts to retrieve the meteor they believe is theirs, they meet a dorky scientist who finds a place in his heart for the kids. Meanwhile, Micky's parent's best friend, a drug addict (who had promised the parents to take care of the kids) owes drug dealers money and eventually has to hide out after barely escaping a hit.

PRINCE AND THE PAUPER

The Prince and the Pauper, Mark Twain's novel about adventure and intrigue in the court of Henry VIII, has been adapted countless times for films and television. In 1996, a six-part miniseries version was seen in the United Kingdom. As ever, the story was predicated upon the astonishing resemblance between Prince Edward, heir to the British throne.

QUIGLEY

Director: William Byron Hillman

Archie is a rich and utterly despicable practical joker. He is one week away from playing a CD-Rom that will change the lives of his trusted manager Dexter and other employees forever, when he is suddenly involveed in a deadly accident. Archie quickly discoveres that instead of enterting heaven's pearly gates, he is being sent back to earth to clean up the mess he's created. Since Archie has an absolute dislike for animals, especially dogs, it is quickly decided he return to earth as a dog. Not any dog, mind you, but a fluffy white Pomeranian named "Quigley." Sweeney, an "observing" guardian angel, will accompany him. He is the only person who will actually see the real Archie. Everyone else sees Quigley. He's given two very different assignments. One is to retrieve the CD-Rom before it's played and the other is to help his brother, Woodward and his family, whom he hasn't talked to in years. Quigley, (a very confused Archie), has much to do and little time to do it.

Soon she guesses it must be the only rich philanthropist, but the popular Mr. John Martin Carter doesn't grant her an interview and isn't tricked either, in fact meets her at the worst repeatedly without her knowing him, until he arranges to be presented at the mayor's Christmas party, then invites her for dinner and proves a charming widower, yet denies being secret Santa, causing her boss to panic and explode. After more bad news and another red herring she is resigned to return defeated...
