DIAMOND DOG CAPER

DORM DAZE

Dorm Daze unfolds during a crazy afternoon at a university co-ed dormitory in the days before Christmas break when one of the students, Styles McFee, hires a prostitute named Dominique for his unwitting brother, Booker, to lose his virginity. But Booker prefers to loose his virginity to his long-term sweetheart Rachel just down the hall. Meanwhile, another student, named Wang, awaits the arrival of a French foreign exchange student, who speaks little English, also named Dominique. Farcical wackiness ensues as a series of mistaken identities and mishaps escalate into monumental proportions starting when Wang leaves for work, Dominique the Student arrives and is mistaken for the prostitute by Styles, while Dominique the Hooker is mistaken for the student by others including the two dorm gossip queens Lynne and Marla. Other characters involve Adrienne, who is targeted by the dorm geek, Newmar, with whom they had a drunken fling the night before. Adrienne tries to find a missing handbag belonging to her friend, Claire, who is having boyfriend troubles with Tony. Adrienne's roommate, Gerri, inadvertently gets her hands on another handbag similar looking to Claire's which is filled with $30,000 in cash. Gerri is soon mistaken for a shadowy hit woman, named Britany the Snake, by a local gangster named Lorenzo. Elsewhere, Pete's punk friend Cliff enters the dorm when Pete has to go to work. Cliff soon teams up with Dominique the Hooker to find the missing handbag with the cash while the token gay student Foosball works his way through all the plots of this collegiate comedy of Shakespearean proportions.

DORM DAZE 2

When Frank sees in the newspaper the picture of Crystal Harkness, the wife of the tycoon Harkness, Eddie confirms that she was a former strip dancer and buried with a valuable necklace. Frank forces Eddie to exhume her body, but they do not find the jewel. Frank brings Crystal's corpse to his hideout and decides to ask a ransom to Harkness getting into a deeper trouble, while Eddie falls in love for Crystal.

Joined by his 12 year-old daughter, Serena (Amber Savva), Thomas departs to the Greece island looking for the inspiration he needs to finish his thesis. Serena knows that what her father needs most of all is to find love again after the loss of his wife. Initially, Serena tries her hand at matchmaking with the local women on the island, who are less than impressed by the awkward and clumsy Thomas. Very much in tune to the ancient spirits herself, Serena meets Nereid (Kelly Brook) a beautiful mermaid. However, menace is present in the form of the evil Captain Mavros (Alki David), an island fisherman intent on killing Nereid and getting his claws on her priceless jewel-encrusted tail. Serena realises that she has finally found the ideal match for her father and employs her father's ancient Greek love spells to make them fall in love. Eventually Nereid sacrifices her immortality to become a mortal human being, joining Thomas and Serena back in Oxford where Thomas's thesis is received in triumph.

FREEWAY

15 year girl runs away from home to live with her grandmother after mom is arrested for prostitution and step dad for molesting her. Along the way her car breaks down, and a respectable, decent looking guy picks her up. Turns out he's the freeway rapist the news keeps talking about and now he's set his eyes on her. However, she shoots him several times and flees. By some miracle, the freeway rapist survives, and the police charge the girl with attempted homicide. The papers have a field day, making her out to be a scumbag and the guy a victim turned hero. But it's not over yet...

FRIENDS AND LOVERS

Despite his popular success, Rogan sees his life as being as futile as the Red Sox, who have not won the baseball championship since 1918. He's not very close with his daughter (Ari Graynor), his wife (Catherine O'Hara) is divorcing him, his girlfriend (Bebe Neuwirth) doesn't understand him, and his lead actor (Harris Yulin) has a parasite in his brain that is causing him to forget his lines. Meanwhile, Rogan is terrified that hated theater critic Steven Schwimmer (Robert Downey Jr.) will tear his play apart, leaving him a shell of a man, like his friend Elliot Litvack (Griffin Dunne). A former cabdriver, Rogan spends much of the day stuck in taxis in heavy traffic, attempting to engage the hacks in conversation, and bonding better with strangers than with his friends and family. As the curtain approaches, he can't decide whether he'd rather be at the play or watching the game on television, afraid that both might fail him. Hoffman sets the film in a tight-knit New York City community that moves at a snail's pace, where coincidences both welcome and not abound. Keaton excels as the tortured soul who is looking for that critical hit--in both Broadway and baseball parlance. He just can't face another ball going through his legs. Hoboken's Yo La Tengo composed the movie's excellent score.

GARAM MASALA

Shyam and Makarand work as photographers in a commercial advertising agency. Both of them like to fool around with women, even though Makarand is engaged to be married to a doctor named Anjali. In order to outsmart each other, they two get into a competition of shooting a photograph, and Sam wins it, goes on a trip to the United States of America. Upon his return, he finds that Makarand is living a very enviable lifestyle with three of the most beautiful girls, who also work as air-hostesses. Sam meets them all, and finds out that the trio are unaware of each other, falls in love with Pooja; and begins several moves to upset Makarand lifestyle, and possibly get promoted as a Supervisor.

GODSON

And there's the base's commanding officer, Colonel Woolwrap, who sees in Rudy a younger version of himself. Only problem is, Rudy isn't too comfortable under his, or anyone's, tutelage. But then Rudy meets Sergeant Irene Teale - beautiful, intelligent, and most importantly, sane. Unfortunately, she's the Colonel's girlfriend. As Rudy pursues Irene, he uncovers the secret of The Wing: a hospice for American casualties from a reckless mission in the Vietnam war. Woolwrap has been sitting in Qangattarsa waiting for the last of the men to pass away. Meanwhile, the 'patients' remain unconscious, vegetative, erased as the men they once were... Except for Guy X.

HELLCAB

14 hours in the life of a Chicago cab driver is examined as he picks up fares from the good and bad parts of the city and emotionally connects to many of his passengers including a depressed rape victim whom he longs to help, but knows there is nothing he can do. Other fares include a drug runner and a manic race to get a pregnant woman to the hospital. Little is shown of the cabbie's own life and thus the film leaves us with no emotional connection to his life.

INTERN ACADEMY

The St. Albert's Teaching Hospital, considered the worst in the public health system and administrated by the corrupt Dr. Cyrill Kipp, receives a new group of interns: the clumsy Mike Bonnert, whose parents are prominent doctors and forced him to study in medical school; the wolf Dale Dodd, who has come to the hospital to meet women and falls in love for the nurse Cynthia Skyes; Marlon Thomas, who like to play pranks with his mates; Mira Towers, who aims to be a great surgeon; Christine Lee, a very efficient student and promising doctor; and Mitzi Cole, who works as stripper to pay for her medical school and becomes Mike's girlfriend. Leaded by Sarah Calder, the group spends the year learning how to become medical doctors in an environment of lots of confusion.

Both have a light discussion with Alvira confiding that she is in love with another East Indian male, Satvinder Singh, a lawyer by profession who rescued her and then represented her successfully against Madame Tussauds, both fell in love and are soon to be married. Rakesh confides that he is in love with Anaida Raza, a Muslim of Indian origin. They subsequently go on their respective ways but are fated to meet again, and this time Alvira introduces Rakesh to Satvinder, and she, in turn, is introduced to Anaida. Complications arise when Satvinder falls in love with Anaida, who is not who she claims to be, and circumstances will reveal that Rakesh and Alvira have been less than forthright with each other.

Next day, after having met a beautiful girl, Shurik constantly has an impression that he's already seen her, visited her apartment etc... 3. "Operatsiya Y" ("Operation Y"). A depository director, trying to cover up embezzlement on his depository, hires 3 crooks to simulate robbery. The plan is to get there at night, overpower an old lady guard and break a few things to make an impression of a big crime. The problem is that the very night the operation "Y" was planned for, the old lady-guard asked the tenant of her apartment (that of course happened to be Shurik) to guard the depository for her.

In spite of many requests, his tough heart does not accept any other agreement further than the one established in their contract.

THIN BLUE LINE

Inspector Raymond C. Fowler is the officer in charge of Gasford police station, a devoted and integer servant of the crown, and a terrible stickler for rules and all forms of correctness. His second in command, Sergeant Patricia Dawkins, is also his partner and very much in command in all non-police matters, with a nasty tendency to forget her professional place too. The uniform branch is further manned by three Constables: old Trinidadian-born Frank Gladstone, promising foxy Pakistani Maggie Habib and English simpleton Kevin Goody, good friends but constantly arguing and overeager, especially by Fowler's impossibly high standards. They share the station with loudly arrogant but rather stupid and shockingly in-courteous Detective Inspector Derek Grim's CID branch, which further includes Detectives Robert Kray and Gary Boyle. The female mayor is a further worry, the crooks usually cause much less trouble then the permanent cast.

Two Manhattan couples enjoy complicated relationships: Tom and Rebecca (David Duchovny and Julianne Moore) are a glamorous married couple with two kids and a troubled sex life; Rebecca's best friend, Elaine (Maggie Gylenhaal), is in a long-term relationship with Rebecca's brother, Tobey (Billy Crudup), who is also Tom's best friend. Tom has recently quit his advertising job to be a stay-at-home dad, and Rebecca is a successful actress with a depleting libido; thus, despite the couple's obvious closeness, Tom's porn consumption and general distraction have increased considerably. Meanwhile, Elaine juggles a stressful job in publishing and a fledgling career as a children's-book author, while Tobey's job as a copywriter is considerably less demanding. It is soon evident that Tobey has never quite grown up, and when Elaine decides that she wants to get married and have kids, she realizes she'll have to do it with someone else. The turmoil that ensues contains a number of hilarious, emotionally charged encounters between friends and lovers, and an undeniably romantic conclusion. The tale unfolds anecdotally in a style of verbal sparring that recalls Woody Allen; so too does the preponderance of recognizable New York locations, in a view of the city that makes the most of its charms. The movie also boasts well-executed cameos by Ellen Barkin as an imperious publisher, James LeGros as an eccentric songster, Eva Mendes as a temptress from Tobey's past, and Gary Shandling as an earringed therapist.

Director Alex Cox's film features a stunning performance by De Mornay, and the film's pleasures include her sexy/threatening exchanges with Michael Madsen; Delroy Lindo's eerily calm turn as a philosophical casino head; and Billy Bob Thornton as a sensible killer who's just too stuck on De Mornay for his own good. THE WINNER is a compelling film from a very compelling director.

But the new creation just doesn't go over well with the public and the doctor must once again depend upon Kincaid -- just in time to solve a new mystery. Then Watson suddenly vanishes... leaving Holmes to solve the case on his own.
